Couples Counseling and Support Services

Written by Victoria Delgadillo, MC

Here at Amanda Hope Comfort and Care, we provide counseling and support for families who have a child battling cancer, a blood disorder, or any other life-threatening illness. We not only provide this support for children but also for parents and caregivers who are struggling with their warrior’s journey. During this time, parents/caregivers deal with an immense amount of stress; however, being a strong team and being on the same page is beneficial to their child’s healing. Through couples therapy, we can work on coping skills, building a strong foundation, and improving your teamwork to help your warrior in their journey.

Couples/marriage counseling aims to improve communication between both partners and continue building on the foundation of the relationship. Working to resolve conflicts, negotiate and problem solve are all possibilities within this mode of therapy. One major misconception is that couples/marriage counseling is only for partners who are struggling, but it can also be beneficial for those that want to strengthen their relationship.

Benefits of Couples Counseling:

  • Improved communication skills

  • Ability to more effectively parent children

  • Deepen connection and understanding with partner

  • Learn to resolve conflict in a healthy way

  • Process and work through unresolved feelings and issues

In our office, couples/marriage counseling includes weekly, biweekly, or monthly sessions. These can be in-person or Telehealth sessions where we meet altogether to work on achieving your set goals. We believe that a strong family system starts with parents/caregivers who are on the same page. For our warriors, seeing their loved ones getting the support they need is also beneficial for them to know that help is out there not only for themselves but for those they care about.

Seeking help does not mean that your relationship is over or in a bad place. Seeking help is not a sign of giving up or a sign of weakness. Reaching out can mean that you care about your relationship and want to work on improving it.

OUR COMFORT AND CARE COUNSELING SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE FOR WARRIORS, THEIR SIBLINGS, AND THEIR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE THEM WITH THE CARE AND SUPPORT THEY NEED TO WORK THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES.

Victoria Delgadillo is a new full-time Comfort and Care Counselor for Amanda Hope. She has availability for the following services: Individual, Couples/Marriage, Family therapy and Play Therapy.
